It is basically the appetizer you didn’t even know you needed. I’m told the Atom Bombs have a cult-like following when they are available. Served with a side of sour cream & Smack Sweet sauce. You won’t find these on the menu and they’re not always available but if they are, definitely give this appetizer a try.Ītom Bombs – Lightly fried tortillas stuffed with cream cheese & fresh jalapeños. Quick question, have you ever wanted a jalapeño popper but wrapped in a warm crispy flauta? Well you will have to come in and ask for Atom Bombs.
Side note: I immaturely giggled way too long after I wrote that sentence. I guess they know, just like y’all do, everything tastes better once it’s served with a little meat in it. Sounds simple enough, right?! Yet this was #FlatsHiddenMenu and we were served Queso Con Carne instead. We were served the Tijuana Trio, which is warm chips, handmade salsa, guacamole and queso. I added a mildly hot salsa and devoured the entire bowl.Beefy Queso – Classic queso combined with beef Ingredients include light salsa based rice, black beans, hand-made pico, fresh guacamole & green onions & served in a bowl. This is basically a large burrito without the tortilla. They have a nice salsa bar with a guides to how hot each one is – and hot is very hot! Our All White Chicken Breast, Carnitas and Steak are Hormone Free.You can view all their nutrition and allergen information here. The restaurant promises fresh food with healthy options available. Service was very good once the servers bring you your meal they check on you periodically to see if you need anything else, like a drink refill. Given the type of restaurant this is, the atmosphere is really what you would expect. The view in the Cary, NC location is of a parking lot and Trader Joe’s, but the nice weather compensated for the lack of atmosphere. You order at the cash register and someone brings your order to your table – at the location I went to I sat outside as it was pretty busy and noisy inside. Tijuana Flats is a fast casual chain restaurant with many locations including Florida, North Carolina, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
